This is what I call a Triathlon

Sara and I made the trip down south for the Encinitas Sprint Triathlon but really we (I) went for the Beer.

We stayed in Carlsbad which just happens to have a Pizza Port and managed to visit the place twice in two days. In my humble opinion Port Brewing Company makes some of the best tasting brews in multiple styles.

Throughout the weekend we sampled their Port Truck Stout, the Wipeout I.P.A. (which they now sell in bottles), the Carlsbad Cream Ale, the California Honey Ale and their None-The-Weisser.

We even had the chance to try Avery's (and Russian River's) Collaboration Not Litigation on tap (we have had it in the bottle and I was excited and surprised to see it on tap) as well as Ballast Point's Big Eye I.P.A. and every beer was fantastic.

The triathlon was a success but the drinks were even better.

This is my new favorite brewery

Deschutes Brewery

Last night I had the Inversion I.P.A. - and it is delicious.

I have had it before and I plan to have it again. It just has a fantastic balance for an I.P.A.

Now, I am a lover of high-hopped I.P.A.'s so my enjoyment of this brew is not out of the ordinary but what I love about Deschutes is how well they do with all the other styles. Black Butte Porter - blew me away when I first tasted it.

It has clearly blown many more people away - check out the list of awards it has won.

We also sampled the Buzzsaw Brown, and the Bachelor E.S.B. and all these beers are flavorful and taste exactly what you would hope for in each style.

Let's Start This

I am not a writer but I do like beer and sometimes get the urge to share. I think I will use this page to review the beer I drink (and maybe alcohol in general) and the places I go that serve beer. My wife (Sara) and I love to travel around the world and visit breweries as well as sample the local brews. This is where I will share those pics and adventures.
